Acura has unveiled the TLX GT race car at the ongoing NAIAS in Detroit.
Set to participate in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Class, the TLX will be campaigned by RealTime Racing and will compete with likes of the Audi R8 LMS, Cadillac CTS-V, Chevrolet Corvette, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911, SRT Viper and Ferrari 458.
The car was created by Honda Performance Development (HPD) and comes equipped with a HPD chassis, an all-wheel drive system and aerodynamic performance parts that have been approved for Pirelli World Challenge. The car also features twin-turbo V6 engine that is loosely based on the 3.5-liter V6 that resides in the 2015 TLX.
According to HPD President Art St. Cyr, “The 2015 Acura TLX is a true luxury sport sedan, so it is fitting that the car be raced against several of its natural luxury competitors in the Pirelli World Challenge.” He further stated that Acura and Peter Cunningham’s RealTime Racing organization have had a long history of success together, and so they look forward to adding to that tradition with the Acura TLX GT race car in 2014.
