BYD Qin hybrid revealed, promises 177 MPGe and 5.9s sprint to 62 mph [video]

BYD has recently introduced the Qin hybrid on the local market as a successor for the F3DM.

The Chinese automaker had unveiled the Qin hybrid in 2012 at the Beijing Motor Show and now finally the car has reached the markets for sale in China. Described as a high tech, performance-based hybrid car, the Qin comes equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 151 hp (113 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque working together with an electric motor generating an output of 147 hp (110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) which results to combined output of 291 hp (217 kW) and 479 Nm (353 lb-ft).

BYD also claims that the Qin hybrid will be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 5.9 seconds and will be able to hit a top speed of 115 mph (185 kmph). In electric mode it has enough juice to provide a range of up to 44 miles (70 km) while in hybrid mode it can do 177 MPGe which represents about 1.6 liters / 100 km. It features four driving modes (EV+ECO, EV+SPORT, HEV+ECO and HEV+SPORT) and overall it has got decent looks.
