Electric and hybrid vehicles have started to become the norm these days. The BMW i8 and the 2014 Cadillac ELR Coupe are a few good examples to mention. However, besides those models, there is also a very environmentally friendly vehicle from the Japanese automaker, Toyota, and the vehicle is called the FCV, which appropriately stands for Fuel Cell Vehicle. Just as in the case of the BMW i8, Toyota is trying to tell customers that an electric or a hybrid car is not something that they can take for granted when it comes to performance. In fact, the Japanese company is even determined to take part in the upcoming Japanese Rally Championship with the FCV, well, in its rally version.
Unfortunately, Toyota is not keen on detailing the specifications of the FCV model that it is going to bring to the car racing event back in its home country, Japan. So far, the only thing known about this rally FCV is that it has white and blue decoration on the exterior, with some black and silver graphics. Additionally, the car is also coming with a set of lightweight alloy wheels and mud flaps.
Since Toyota is not keen on sharing details of the rally version of its newly launched hybrid fuel cell car, perhaps it is best to consider the performance that the base model has to offer. In this case, customers can expect a journey range of three hundred miles and the ability to reach 60 mph from a stationary position within just ten seconds. In addition to that, the car needs only five minutes of recharge time to be fully operational again.
By the way, Toyota is going to include its rally FCV in a rally competition that covers 177 miles of tracks. Dubbed the Shinshiro Rally, the event is going to kick off come November 1, 2014. So, it’s not going to be long to find out more details about this rally vehicle from Toyota, after all.
