The automaker from South Korea, KIA, had been reported to be prepping a new vehicle model before. The new vehicle would reportedly be known as the Cee’d. However, in spite of the previous reports, there had not been any images of the car but this is no longer the case, it seems. Thing is, the new vehicle that the company is reportedly prepping has now been captured in some spy shots.
Just as a kind reminder, the second generation of the KIA Cee’d was first introduced back in the Geneva Motor Show event three years ago. With that being said, it is quite obvious that the South Korean automaker plans to keep on offering customers with fresh, competitive and affordable vehicle models in the C-segment. Yet, as in the case of the facelifted version of the Hyundai i30, which is a sister model of the KIA Cee’d, KIA’s offering will only have subtle revisions.
Judging by the very first spy photos of the Cee’d taken somewhere around the Arctic Circle, it is clear that the vehicle will be sporting new headlamps, revised front and rear bumpers and also new taillights. However, the test mule caught on camera wears heavy camouflage. With that being said, it is rather difficult to say if there are some other design changes.
In terms of performance, the upcoming Cee’d from KIA will reportedly feature a 1.4L naturally aspirated engine. This one will have 100 hp of power and 137 Nm of torque. Or, for a bigger power, a 1.6L engine is available and offers 135 hp of power and 164 Nm of torque. Yet, for customers that prefer diesel engines, they can choose either the 1.4L version with 90 hp and 220 Nm of power and torque or the 1.6L version with 128 hp and 260 Nm of power and torque. For the ultimate version, customers can go for the KIA Cee’d GT, range topping, that has a turbocharged 1.6L petrol engine with 204 hp and 265 Nm of power and torque.
The KIA Cee’d facelift will most likely bow at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show event in September 2015.
