While there may not seem to be much going on at the automaker known as Opel, this may not really be the case, after all. Only recently, someone has managed to snap a shot of what seems to be an upcoming crossover model from the automotive marquee in question. The vehicle has been spotted somewhere around the northern part of the European continent.
The potent new crossover from Opel seems to be using the chassis of the Peugeot 2008 platform. With that being said, buyers can expect a largely sized C-pillar in addition to a considerably long wheelbase. Other notable components inside the vehicle include a steering wheel from Citroen as well as a number of evaluation equipment assortments.
Even though the car tries to use the Peugeot 2008 platform as its guise, its cover is easily blown up by the GG lettering as well as the license plate that it bears. It can be seen on the adjacent images that the plate actually originates from the land of Germany. So, this is most likely an Opel instead of a PSA Peugeot Citroen joint venture model.
Unfortunately, up to the present time, there are not any official bits of information just yet from Opel. In the meantime, however, General Motors (GM) is reportedly working hard on a couple of new vehicle models. These ones will actually be based on the PSA platforms. With that being said, these upcoming vehicles from GM will most likely end up as a crossover for the C-segment and an MPV for the B-segment. Well, as for the test mule spotted, the one mentioned earlier, it seems that its long wheelbase and rather high ground clearance indicate that it will indeed end up as a crossover.
Speaking of the said new crossover from Opel, rumor has it the car will be manufactured at the PSA plant, which is located at Sochaux, France.
