For those parents out there who are planning to buy a car for their teenage children, well, they may want to consider buying their children the Chevrolet Malibu rather than any other cars. Sure, the Malibu from Chevrolet may not be the most attractive or affordable model to avail but it comes with something that really deserves reckoning. Behold the Teen Driver system of the next generation Malibu from the American automaker, Chevrolet.
Thanks to this so-called Teen Driver feature, it is now possible for parents to see what is happening as their teenage children drive the Chevy Malibu for a spin. This system will display a host of vehicle conditions for the parents to monitor. These conditions include how far the car is being driven, how fast their teenage children are driving the car, whether or not any speed warning has been issued, events related to stability control, forward collision braking events, forward collision warning, antilock braking events and many more.
Also, the car really knows just how to make teenagers feel really annoyed if they fail to follow certain safety precautions. For an example, if a teenager driving the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu has yet to fasten his seat belt, the car can mute the radio for as long as it takes for the teenager to eventually fasten his seat belt. Or, the car can also provide both visual and audible warnings if the teenager is driving the car faster than the pre-established speed.
Another interesting thing about the Teen Driver system offered on the 2016 Malibu from Chevrolet is that the car will never allow a teenage driver to disable any of the following assistance and safety systems: front pedestrian braking, traction control system, forward collision warning system, automatic lights and daytime running lights control, forward collision alert, rear cross traffic alert, side blind zone alert, parking assist for the front and rear ends of the car and also the stability control system.
However, before adult owners of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will be able to harness the benefits offered by the car’s Teen Driver system, they will first have to create a Personal Identification Number (PIN). This will enable parents to register the key fob for their teenage children. As soon as the registered key fob is inserted into the vehicle, the Teen Driver system will start fully functioning right away.
According to Chevrolet, its next generation Malibu is bound to make a debut at the New York Auto Show event this April 1, 2015.
