If this report from a German media is to be believed, fans of a luxury automaker from Germany, Mercedes-Benz, could be looking forward to an imminent debut of the company’s next generation GLE model. According to the media, the car will make its world premiere as soon as this year’s New York Auto Show event kicks off on April 1, 2015. Then, the car will also go on sale come September 12, 2015.
Speaking of the GLE vehicle model from Mercedes-Benz, there have actually been quite a decent number of spy images swirling around all over the World Wide Web pages. Based on these spy images, it is safe to say that the car will be bringing modest changes that are influenced by the company’s GLE coupe model. It is said that the upcoming GLE model will also feature similar engines to the present generation GLE coupe model.
When it comes to the engines, customers may well expect to enjoy a 3.0L V6 engine with twin turbochargers, to begin with. This engine will allegedly be available on the GLE 450 AMG variant and it should deliver 367 HP of power and 520 Nm of torque. Then, at the top of the range, customers may even enjoy a 5.5L V8 engine. The latter will expectedly be used on the GLE 63 AMG with a total power output of 557 HP and a total torque of 700 Nm. In addition, there may also be an S variant that has a total power and torque of 585 HP and 760 Nm, respectively.
Since electric vehicles are kind of becoming the trend these days, it won’t be surprising at all to see a plug-in hybrid variant of the new Mercedes-Benz GLE as well. In this case, it is believed that the plug-in hybrid variant of the model will bear the GLE 500e moniker. However, details are still pretty scarce at the moment.
