Volvo to Offer Hybrid Tech in Future Models

by David Bond

There is something interesting going on with Volvo, it seems. The Swedish automaker reportedly has plans to equip all its future vehicle models with hybrid technology. According to the AutoExpress, this decision from the company has been motivated by the decent number of buyers that are willing to spend their hard earned cash for the Swedish marquee’s XC90 model, which happens to be a plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Nick Connorhe, the managing director in charge of the UK division of Volvo, mentions that the company previously had plans to take 3 to 5 percent take rate of its upcoming hybrid vehicle models. Yet, the sales results surpass that expected rate, achieving the figure of no less than 20 percent, claims Connorhe.

Now, if you are assuming that the hybrid variant of the Swedish company’s vehicle lineups in the future will be offered only for range topping models, you will be absolutely mistaken. The company is even intending to provide all its future vehicle lineups with a hybrid variant. After all, according to Connorhe, this is something that can be done if the hybrid variant vehicles are to grow at a significant rate in the automotive markets in the years to come.

Yes, at this moment, the company may only have a hybrid plug-in variant for its range topping XC90 only, but it was initially to make sure that the model stays at the top of the company’s range of vehicle lineups. Now, as time goes by, the company has found rooms to build a plug-in hybrid variant for each and every single one of the vehicle models it has in its fleet.
