McLaren 675LT Spider sells out in 2 weeks

Each of 500 units of the McLaren 675LT Spider have been sold out, even though it was only officially unveiled on 3 December. The news comes prior to the car’s first official appearance – a preview at the upcoming Geneva motor show in March 2016.

Costing at £285,450, the Spider is £28,000 more costly than the coupé 675LT; it has got the similar 2.9sec 0-62mph sprint, with only a 2mph decrease in highest speed compared with the coupé.

Although the Spider is concluded with the similar 3.8-litre V8 engine as the coupe, it has a long list of re-innovated mechanicals, having weight-saving components and more comfortable turbochargers. It controls the same 666bhp power output, and 515lb ft of torque, with fuel efficiency of 24.1mpg and emissions of 275g/km.

The head of the Spider which is a three-piece folding hardtop, it can be functioned at speeds of up to 19mph. The Spider weighs about 40kg more than the coupé, it is also 100kg lighter overall than the 650S Spider.

Despite the common strengthenings related with the conversion from coupé to convertible, McLaren has stated that its carbon tub was indeed strong to provide no extra structure during the convertible’s creation.
