At the rate Audi is making out its lineup of crossovers, the company soon will run out of single-digit figures to pair with the letter “Q.” The new confirmed recent member is the Q2, which will be seen this coming year. That’s the newest information out of Ingolstadt, along with the notification that the second-generation of the Q5 (currently Audi’s most sold Q model—and its most sold model overall in the U.S.) will come in 2016, as well.

Audi has declared before at a shareholder meeting last year that the Q1 would be launched in 2016. There was no indication of the Q1 in the firm’s recent statement, which means either that the Q2 is undermine the Q1 as the brand’s smallest crossover entry, or that both will sign up the roster for 2016—the Q1 as a traditionally shaped hatchback and the Q2 sporting a more coupelike profile.

CEO Rupert Stadler has stated, Q2 as “a different type of Q model, emotional and very sporty.” Its design is expected to inspire from the Crosslane concept, it was first seen at the 2012 Paris auto show.
