Nissan recalls 108,000 Rogue SUVs due to doors that could fall on people

Nissan is recalling 108,503 units of the 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue SUVs, all which have build dates between 31 July 2013 and 16 January 2016. The concern is with an anti-corrosive treatment on component of the rear liftgate.

Nissan says the treatment was changed from specification, so corrosion might in fact gnaw at the piece regardless of said treatment. If that occurs, a sudden release of pressure could trigger the liftgate’s stay to break off, which might trigger an injury.

Right replacement pieces are not yet in place, so Nissan is sending out an initial notice to owners. A second notice will be provided when replacement parts are offered. Both rear stays will be changed when parts reach car dealers.
