Car with 6 hidden puppies found at Woodlands Checkpoint

The puppies were discovered in a customized compartment beneath the rear traveler seat of the Malaysia-registered car. The 43-year-old Malaysian male motorist is helping AVA with the examination.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) stated on Saturday (May 21) that 6 puppies were obstructed at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Thursday night.

A Malaysia-registered automobile, driven by a 43-year-old Malaysian man, was directed for more checks at the Woodlands Checkpoint at about 11.15 pm on Thursday. Throughout the examination, 6 live pups were discovered concealed in a modified compartment underneath the rear traveler seat.

The driver, the young puppies and the car were referred to the AVA, with the driver helping with the examinations, they included.

While the case is under AVA’s examination, the six puppies are taken care of and quarantined at AVA’s Sembawang Animal Quarantine Station for observation for indications of transmittable or infectious diseases, particularly rabies.

Animals that are smuggled into Singapore are of unknown health status and may introduce exotic conditions, such as rabies, into the nation. The importation of any animals or live birds without an AVA permit is unlawful and brings a maximum penalty of 10,000 SJD ($7,238) and/or jail of as much as a year.
