Mitsubishi recalls 82,426 automobiles for CVT hesitation issues

David BondMitsubishi9 years ago9 Views

Mitsubishi is recalling 82,436 automobiles from the models of 2015 and 2016. The recall impacts the continually variable transmissions, or CVTs, in 2015-16 Outlander Sports, 2016 Outlanders, and 2016 Lancers. Mitsubishi calls their Jatco produced CVT a constant velocity transmission.

According to the document Mitsubishi sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the CVTs in particular vehicles can temporarily lose signal and hold-up velocity. This can increase the danger of an accident.

It is unidentified if there are any injuries or deaths associated with this issue. Dealerships are going to reprogram affected CVTs for free.

If you got one, Mitsubishi Motors North America began the recall on August 15. If you own an affected car, contact MMNA customer service at 1-888-648-7820. MMNA’s number for this recall is SR-16-006. Mitsubishi dealerships must be able to upgrade the CVT’s software and solve the problem.
