Ford is recalling around 88,000 late-model cars in North America for a malfunction that might cause stalling. The recall affects certain Ford Flex, Taurus, and Police Interceptor sedans, along with Lincoln MKS and MKT cars, from the 2013-2015 design years.
Problem is with a fuel pump control module, that might fail, and as a result, motorists may not have the ability to start the engine. A different, however strangely similar, recall involves 2015-2016 Ford Transit diesel vehicles with defective fuel injection pumps.
The fuel injection pump may malfunction, which could prevent the engine from starting, or could result in sudden stalling while driving. Until now, there were no accidents of injuries related to this issue.
Dealers will check the fuel system for possible metal contamination. If no such contamination is discovered, dealerships will change the fuel injection pump and its parts. If there is contamination, dealers will flush the fuel system and change the fuel injection pump, fuel injectors, and also fuel filter.
