Japan’s Toyota and Suzuki said they intend to explore a possible partnership, pointing out technical obstacles and the demand to keep up with consolidation in the worldwide vehicle sector.

Toyota invests greatly in research and development (R&D) for automated driving features as well as artificial intelligence for mobility objectives while cost-conscious Suzuki, which concentrates on cost effective compact automobiles, has yet to announce significant calculated strategies on the best ways to contend in brand-new auto innovations.

Both companies stated that they had recently started talking about feasible participation so absolutely nothing was decided regarding areas where they could collaborate.

Although Suzuki chairman Osamu Suzuki stated his company was having a hard time to equal the breakneck speed of R&D, informing the press conference “R&D in the vehicle sector is transforming rapidly. The future looks perilous.”

A collaboration in between Toyota and Suzuki would be the most up to date in an increasingly settling auto sector. Nissan Motor in May revealed it was preparing to take a managing stake in embattled Mitsubishi Motors.

A collaboration Suzuki had with Germany’s Volkswagen upright a sour note in 2015, after the German automaker charged it of breaching their pact by agreeing a diesel motor offer with Italy’s Fiat.

Toyota finished a buyout of Daihatsu Motors previously this year. The globe’s largest car manufacturer by vehicle sales last year stated last week it will set up a business with Daihatsu to focus on arising markets.
