by SpeedLux

Ford is using the upcoming Los Angeles auto show to reveal the EcoSport small utility car that will finally be sold in North America after years of popularity abroad.

The car manufacturer will use an occasion Monday to unveil the EcoSport, ahead of press days for the vehicle show. The information was revealed on Snapchat by DJ Khaled and then confirmed by Ford through Twitter.

The EcoSport is a subcompact utility car based on the Ford Fiesta. Given that its launching and sales success in Europe and China, Ford executives have been asked for how long till it is offered in US.

We got our first verification in January when CEO Mark Fields announced plans to add 4 new utility cars to the lineup over the next couple of years. The car manufacturer stated they would be brand-new nameplates for the Ford and Lincoln brands.

The EcoSport was first presented in 2003 in Brazil, followed by a second-generation worldwide model in 2012. It is getting a new look for 2017 that includes a brand-new dash to accommodate Sync 3 and all-wheel drive for more markets.

The EcoSport is presently constructed in China, Thailand, Russia, Brazil, and India, with plans to build some in Romania next year. The United States model could be constructed in Mexico together with the Feast or exported from one of the present EcoSport plants.
