An auto-theft suspect who evaded authorities was detained following a 2nd pursuit after an officer located him over an hour later on early Wednesday, according to cops.
An officer identified a stolen automobile leaving the QuikTrip at 21st Street and Memorial Drive at 2 a.m. and tried to pull over the vehicle. The driver bailed out of the still-moving automobile, which crashed into a parked vehicle at a close-by retirement center, as per the cops.
Officers supposedly went after the suspect through a park however lost sight of him as he got in a neighborhood. A K9 unit tried to track the man however lost his scent near 85th East Avenue and 24th Street.
After terminating the chase, cops were able to recognize the suspect as Branden Wood and started looking for an arrest warrant.
Before cops were able to get one, the same officer who at first spotted Wood at the QuikTrip noticed a stolen pickup near 27th Street and Memorial Drive about 3:35 a.m. The officer tried to reach the truck however lost sight of it near the on-ramp to U.S. 169.
Another officer located the pickup moving eastbound on Interstate 44 and initiated a pursuit, authorities stated. The automobile crashed into a parked car near 11th Street and 124th East Avenue. Wood once again supposedly bailed from the vehicle but was arrested after a short foot chase.
Wood had not yet been scheduled into the Tulsa Jail as of 6 a.m.
