Cosworth launches Power Packages for Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86

by Max Richardson

Just yesterday we covered the 2015 Subaru BRZ with minor updates. Toyota has also updated their versions of the GT86 and Scion FR-S for the 2015 model year. What these sporty coupes lack is the power and customers have been waiting for more powerful versions for a while. 197 horsepower from a 2.0-liter boxer four is just not enough in todays world.

Cosworth clearly saw an opportunity there and has now launched a new range of Power Packages for the FA20 engine platform for Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86.

From launch immediately available is the Stage 1 Power Package, raising power from the standard 197 hp hp to 230 hp- a 11.6% increase thanks to free flow sports exhaust, “Power by Cosworth” calibration kit, calibration file designed by Cosworth and a Cosworth performance filtration solution and low temperature thermostat.

230 hp is not a whole lot more, but the good news is more powerful packages are coming soon after with either turbo or supercharging, offering fully validated 325 hp and eventually on to a 380 hp in race track configuration.

Each successive upgrade Stage builds upon and utilizes components in the previous Stage, meaning you are safe to purchase the Sate 1 as it also forms the basis for second, third and so on, depending on how many packages are planned.

In U.S. the Stage 1 kit is available for $2,799 including cat-back exhaust, while Stage 1.2 includes the overpipe and Stage 1.3 ads ceramic-coated manifold.
