Toyota GT 86 convertible concept to make Geneva debut

by SpeedLux

Toyota has finalized plans to bring a convertible concept version of the GT 86 at the forthcoming Geneva show.

Known as the FT-86 Open, the convertible version of the GT 86 coupe samples a possible future development and its objective is to know the public opinion. The Japanese auto major says “testing of a sample version of the car is already underway”. To put it other way if response is positive then a production model will be out probably in 2014.

The actual drawing reveals a 2+2 seating layout but it is difficult to tell whether it will feature a regular cloth or a retractable metal top.
Most likely, the car will come with a regular cloth top since it is lighter and cheaper to make. If a production model comes out then it will most likely be offered as a Scion as well.

Only a initial sketch has been done and there are no actual pictures of the convertible to be shown.

Let us wait and see what happens at Geneva where the car will be unveiled, till then let us go through the pictures instead.
