Audi would be showcasing its e-tron technology platform which is based on the R8 that did duty at the Le Mans 24 hours race. The initiative for this platform started from the E-tron concept and the E-tron Detroit Show car.

Four motors would be powering the R8 E-tron. Two of these motors would be at the front and two at the rear axles. Each of these motors would be connected to its respective wheel usinfg a very small shaft. The power generated is 313 hp along with an impressive torque figure of 4500 nm or 3,319 lb-ft. The car cab accelerate to speeds of 62 mph from rest in 4.8 seconds. The car measure 1.90 meters by width, 4.43 meters by length and stands at 1.25 meters by height. The E-tron technology platform that is being used gives the car 42:58 weight distribution between front and rear axles. This provides for perfect balance and driving dynamics. The suspension at the front is a triangular shaped double wishbone type while the rear has a trapezoidal link. The wheels are 19” by size.

Charging of the onboard battery of the Audi can be done through a cable and plug arrangement connected to normal household supply of 230 volts / 16 amperes. It takes about 6-8 hours for charging the battery from a completely depleted condition. This can be reduced to 2.5 hours if higher voltage is used for charging. The car is expected towards the end of 2012.
