2014 Audi A3 Cabrio spied including Top up

by SpeedLux

The 2014 Audi A3 Cabrio has been spied yet again and this time with the top up while testing on the public roads.

The newest member of the expanding A3 lineup will be publicly unveiled at IAA in Frankfurt in the coming week. The car is based on the A3 Sedan and so we can expect the wheelbase to be slightly elongated in comparison to the regular five-door hatchback.

The 2014 A3 Cabrio will be riding on the MQB platform and it would not really be a cakewalk for the model and the company as it will have to face competition from the upcoming BMW 2-Series Cabrio. In terms of styling we can expect features such as a prominent front grille, retractable soft top, LED headlights, dual exhaust setup and five-spoke rims.

Talking about the power specs, engines will be carried over from the other A3 models, together with a 300 HP (220 kW) S3 Cabrio model and the RS3 Cabrio which is rumored to generate an output of around 400 HP (294 kW). The model would come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with an optional six-speed dual-clutch for the S3 Cabrio and a seven-speed setup for the RS3 Cabrio.
