2014 Holden Barina RS specs released, priced from 20,990 AUD

Holden has recently introduced the 2014 Barina RS after an announcement made in September this year.

Essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Sonic RS, the model comes fitted with same 1.4-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine generating 138 hp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque and the power is sent to the front axle through a six-speed manual gearbox with gear ratios tuned for sportier driving. There is also an option to match to a six-speed automatic transmission equipped with Active Select.

The Barina RS is 10mm lower and benefits from extra body bracing to provide a stiffer body structure as compared to the standard version. The RS version can be visually distinguished because of its different front and rear fascias, fog lamps and a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The company is offering an exclusive Orange Rock paint scheme for the range-topping Barina and for the interiors there are RS-branded floor mats, heated front seats wrapped around in leather with RS badging, as well as sports pedals and a leather gear shifter.

Pricing for the manual Barina RS starts off from 20,900 AUD and it would cost 23,190 AUD if you opt for the automatic transmission.
