2014 Mercedes CL / S-Class Coupe spied undergoing testing

by SpeedLux

The 2014 Mercedes CL / S-Class Coupe has been recently spied undergoing testing in Germany.

The prototype was spied while going back to a Mercedes-Benz facility. It has classic proportions with a long hood and a short trunk, a gun-slit greenhouse, a single-bar grille and LED-infused headlights. Other highlights include a dual exhaust system and a protruding lower character line.

Engine options will likely be shared with the S-Class so we can expect a 4.7-liter V8 engine that will be able to generate 455 HP (335 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. There could also be a twin-turbo V6, a twin-turbo V8 and a couple of V12 engines.

The CL / S-Class Coupe is expected to be previewed by a near production concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show to be held in September and the production model will likely follow sometime early 2014.
