2014 Volkswagen Golf R teased?

by SpeedLux

It appears that Volkswagen has released the first teaser picture of the 2014 Golf R.

Though it is very difficult to confirm from the image if it is the 2014 Golf R model only; but quite a few French websites are giving credit to the automaker for posting the teaser image. Regardless of its origin, it can be seen that the model has an aggressive looking hatchback with LED-infused headlights and what appears to be a revised front bumper. We can also see square fog lights and “R” badging on it.

Talking about the output, power will likely be provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that would generate around 286 hp (213 kW) and 280 lb-ft (379 Nm) of torque. There are chances that the engine would be connected to a dual-clutch transmission and a new Haldex all-wheel drive system that is lighter and more responsive than its predecessor.

With the help of the above engine and setting, the 2014 Golf R would be able to accelerate from 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in around five seconds and might also come with a limited top speed of 250 kmph (155 mph).

There are speculations that the Golf R could be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
