Nissan Motor’s board is expected to meet on Monday, its first meeting since eliminating chairman Carlos Ghosn previous month, to decide on ways to enhance governance at the automaker in middle of increasing tensions with alliance partner Renault.
The board is set to meet some time after 4:00 p.m. (0700 GMT), according to sources aware of the matter.
A panel of external directors tasked with selecting an interim replacement for Ghosn have put off their selection, looking to prioritize putting in place measures to enhance governance, one of the sources previously stated.
Ghosn was arrested on November 19 by Japanese authorities due to his alleged financial misconduct. The once-revered boss of Nissan was formally charged in a Tokyo court previous week and remains in detention. Nissan Motor has been also indicted for its role in the scandal.
Nissan’s board is set to increase the amount of external board members and set up a committee to supervise compensation, the source stated.
