Switzer Perfomance Pumps 911HP on Porsche 911 GT2

by Ron Grant

Spell monster car. Switzer Performance, the Ohio-based tuner, just released a monster-powered version of the Porsche 911 GT2. As if the standard 911 GT2 wasn’t enough, the tuner pumped it up a notch by adding 291HP more to the 911 GT2’s engine. The result is a stellar 911HP, just to fit the model’s numerical nick name. This spells serious poetic justice done to the sports car. If you think it was a coincidence, you’re wrong.

The work on the Switzer GT2 R911S began with the P800 GT2 package. From there, the tuner added in-house intercoolers and told the press some vague reference to a racing fuel. It doesn’t matter what they did. The important thing is the Porsche 911 GT2 now has 911HP of power to match. If that’s not effective branding, nothing is.

The package isn’t just about engine power, though. The tuner also added a little something for the suspension. According to the tuner, they added a titanium inverted front-strut and a remotely position reservoir suspension which was designed by JRZ track experts. For a more comfortable ride to go with the speed, the R911S also boasts of “hand-selected” damping and spring rates.

This much power is pretty useless if your car’s bulky and heavy. The tuning company also thought about that, which is why they’re throwing in a set of carbon fiber parts to lessen the car’s mass. Those who are intimidated by Porsche’s price tags don’t need to worry either. Switzer prices the package at $199,900.
