Indian bikemaker Royal Enfield on Wednesday reported 41 per cent year-on-year drop in overall sales at 35,814 units in March.
The company had registered total sales of 60,831 units in the same month in 2019, Royal Enfield stated.
“It has been a challenging year for the industry, from subdued market sentiment in the initial quarters, to the existing global pandemic situation. The bikemaker however continues to remain invested in bringing greater innovation in products and processes,” said Vinod Dasari, CEO, Royal Enfield.
Domestic sales in March were at 32,630 units as against 58,434 units in the year-ago month, dropping 44 per cent.
Exports last month were at 3,184 units as compared to 2,357 units in March 2019, a boost of 33 per cent.
Royal Enfield had previously announced that it has sold all existing inventory of BS-IV motorcycles throughout dealerships. With this, the motorcycle manufacturer claims to be wholly compliant with the new BS-VI emission norm regulation appropriately ahead of the mandated timeline.
