A Richland County deputy was injured on Wednesday after he drove off the road and overturned his patrol car in order to prevent crashing with another vehicle.
According to the State Highway Patrol, Deputy Scott Davis was driving on Ganges Five Point Road at 1:45 p.m. while attending an emergency call. Davis started to pass another vehicle when a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 66-year-old man started to make a left turn onto the driveway of a residence.
Davis turned to prevent hitting the pickup truck, and his Ford Taurus patrol car went off the right side of the road and hit a rock and mailbox before it was overturned.
Davis was admitted to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The crash is being investigated.
