Two killed after car crash on I-75, in Miami Township

Two people died after a car crash on Tuesday morning crash on I-75 north near the state Route 725 exit in Miami Township.

The crash reported around 10:30 a.m. involved a pickup truck and the Ohio Department of Transportation vehicle.

The crash took place when William T. Maxson, 84, of Nicholasville, was driving northbound on I-75 and he hit the ODOT truck northbound on I-75. The ODOT vehicle, driven by Jessica A. Brown, 55, of Dayton was struck as it was towing an arrow board flashing sign when it was following behind a street sweeper on the shoulder.

William Maxson and his passenger Ruth S. Neikirk, 74, of Lexington, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger and Jassica A. Brown were both transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

There were two dogs inside the pickup truck that were taken away from the scene by animal control officers.

The ramp from state Route 725 to I-75 north was closed following the crash but was reopened by 1:45 p.m.

Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
