New 2011 Range Rover official details, specs & pictures

by Ron Grant

The 2011 Range Rover will hit the showrooms from UK in mid-September. The design of the new Rover is almost the same, except for the nose that was a bit revised.

The major changes are centred on its diesel powertrain that Europeans like so much. A 4.4-litre V8 diesel will replace the current engine of only 3.6-liter. The 2011 Range Rover will also have a new 8-speed ZF paddle-shift auto. With these modifications, the car will have 15% more power. This complies with the new Euro 5 clean-air standards, reducing fuel consumption by 18.5% and CO2 by 14%.

The four-cam, 32-valve diesel receives a new cast-iron block and uses parallel sequential turbocharging similar to the Discovery’s 3.0-liter V6.

The 2011 Range Rove is also faster than its predecessor when it comes to make the sprint to 100 km with 1.1 sec. Now it takes him only 7.5 sec to reach the speed.

A Jag-style selector now controls the transmission and the Terrain Response system gains hill hold and ‘gradient acceleration control’. This stops the car from running away on slopes, even if Hill Descent Control isn’t engaged.
