Karl-Peter Forster and Ralph Speth from Jaguar while speaking about the company’s future plans have confirmed the official launch of the XE sports roadster during the Geneva Motor Show in 2011. The launch would also come at a time that would mark the fiftieth anniversary of the coming of the XKE which can be considered the spiritual successor. It would first be available in roadster format to be followed by a coupe version later on.
An all new aluminum platform is being used for the making of the 2013 Jaguar XE. The car would be installed with a V8 petrol engine developing 385 hp in a naturally aspirated version while it would be a mouthwatering 510 hp in the supercharged version. There is also talk of a hybrid version of the car being made as well. For the gas electric combo version, lithium ion battery pack would be used which gives higher efficiency as against the nickel based battery pack that is normally being used today. There would also be the R version of the XE meant to cater for the speed fanatics.
