Dagger GT: A 300 mph street legal supercar

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport car with its top speed of 267 mph made it to the Guinness Book of Records on account of being the fastest car on earth. But the coveted title won’t last long if the Dagger GT project is to be believed. The project envisages a new supercar that is supposed to be powered by a mammoth 2000 HP engine and promises to better even the Bugatti Veyron’s top speed by being the first street legal car to do 300 mph. In fact, the car come up with impressive performance figures as the quarter mile will come up in 6.7 seconds while the 0 to 60 mph in just 1.5 seconds.

An American project, the Dagger GT will involve only five units of the car being made by 2011. The Dagger would be available in three versions – one as a hardcore racing model similar to the Zonda R, the second a sport model for comfortable and soft riding, and the third would be a GT-X model, with luxury and opulence to boast of along with speed and zip under its belt. All the cars built will comply with all existing and future regulations in place in all the 49 US states.

The base price for the car would be around $450,000, which translates to £ 300,000 or € 360,000. Also, the price will zoom ahead as the spec sheet gets lengthier.  Each of the car will be specially hand built with just two production slots left open before the project gets off the start line. The next time further orders might be accepted is in 2012 when a batch of ten more cars might be accommodated.

The engine fitted on this car would be a twin turbo 572 multifuel racing engine. The aluminum engine that belts out a range topping 2000 hp will be built by Neslon Racing Engines. Transferring the power to the wheels will be a custom TranStar/Mendeola six-speed transaxle gear that is tuned to 380 mph.  The chassis of the car would be made out of high-strength 4130 Chromoly Steel while lots of carbon fiber is expected to go into the making of the car.
