Citroen drops its GT Supercar plans

by Alex

Citroen had announced last June to place their GT by Citroen concept in production phase. Original plans envisaged just six units to be produced with each carrying a price tag of $1.8 million. Citroen however have now changed plans. They have shelved this production and instead decided to channelize their efforts towards the making of cars that would give them better returns in terms of money.

The concept was supposed to be the inspiration factor of the final version. Right from the construction using carbon-fiber material to the interior details with its eccentric touch like the copper trim, all were supposed to be traces of the concept model. The engine was to be the V8 which is found in the Ford GT.

The concept had been designed for Gran Turismo 5 with its electric drive and powered by a fuel cell that has no polluting emissions. The car was designed in partnership between Citroen and Polyphony who is the designer of the driving simulation game named Gran Turismo5 which can be played on Palystation 3. This car was designed to offer stiff competition to the other cars of the same genre.
