There has been a general recall of some cars by both Chrysler LLC Group as well as Ford Motor Co.
Ford is recalling about 33,278 units all of the 2010MY Transit Connect vans which had been manufactured between December 5, 2008 and up to May 31, 2010. The reason for doing so is the retention pushpin located on the headliner above the B-pillar on both sides of the vehicles causing some safety issue problems.
Ford has stated in a posting at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website that “During vehicle testing the vehicle exceeded head injury criteria requirements set by the standard.” The recall process is expected to begin on or about July 19, 2010 as per statement from Ford.
The general recall in case of the Chrylser group is for their 2010MY left hand drive Jeep Liberty, Dodge Nitro and Ram 1500 Trucks. There is as well a recall of the right and left hand drive Jeep Wrangler vehicles. The reason for the recall is to fix up a defective brake tubes which could lead to loss of brake fluid. The total number of cars that they are recalling is unspecified.
The recall is expected to commence in August and the manufacturers have stated that dealers would fix the brake tube free of charge by replacement.
