Alfa Romeo vehicles may soon be available at Fiat dealerships in the US

Sergio Marchionne has formally announced the possibilities of the Alfa Romeo super sports sedans to be available for sale at car showrooms owned and operated by Fiat dealers in the United States. Sergio Marchionne is the CEO of the Chrysler Group.

The Chrysler Group dealerships will become a Fiat franchise in coming fall this year. It will be the primary franchise of Fiat in US. Chrysler group dealership would receive 200 franchises from the Fiat. This entire relationship seems to have its roots in the fact that the metro markets have been seen to be welcoming small cars. It is also understood from the development in the industry that Fiat has planned commencement in late 2012 of its offering of Alfa vehicles to the US. The Chrysler Group CEO was reported to have categorically said in a recent press event that it is “more than likely” that Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands will be sold by the same dealerships in US.

The addition of Alfa is likely to be of much significance to dealers who will be awarded Fiat franchise. Auto experts believe that the addition of Alfa would have high importance because Fiat apparently seems to have decided on its intentions to sell only the 500 mini-car. The analysts are expecting the model to be available for sale later this year; and firmly opine that with passage of time, other versions of the car including an electric version, a convertible and a four-door sedan would follow.

The late 2012 is also likely to witness the return of the mid-sized Giulia sedan and wagon to North America. These two models come as a replacement for the 159 sedan and Sport wagon models respectively. The midsized Giulia will come installed with transverse engines with an option to choose from front wheel drive or an all-wheel drive system. The research and development team there at the back end at Alfa’s research centers are collimating the close examination of the possibility of developing a hatchback, subcompact, mid-sized SUV and roadster.

On August 30, at a dealer meeting in Detroit, Marchionne, the Chrysler Group CEO, has thoughtfully planned disclosure of an outline of Fiat’s vision about car’s US rollout in general and clearly ruling out any discussion with respect to the Alfa at the meeting. Vice President Joe Biden, in a recent press event, added that due to federal assistance extended last year the US auto industry is able to stage a comeback.

If Sergio Marchionne is really serious about getting Americans into Chrysler/FIAT dealerships, he should have the still stunning Alfa Romeo Brera and Brera Spider imported into the USA. The Spider is as gorgeous as the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible, yet costs tens of thousands less.
