BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe images leaked

by Alex Patrick

The BMW Gran Coupe concept was unveiled last year at the Beijing Auto Show. Tagged as a future Mercedes-Benz CLS competitor, the Gran Coupe is a nice looking 4 door vehicle. After a short while, BMW announced that the Gran Coupe concept would be followed by a production version which will be in the market early in 2012. And now, after quite a few patent images have come to the fore, what does look certain is that the actual production version does sport a lot of similarity with the concept.

The positioning of the brand new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe will be in between the current 5 and 7-Series and will retain some of the features that made the concept a success at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year. These features include the frameless windows and B-pillar. What also seems probable is the same range of turbocharged six and eight cylinder engines powering the Gran Coupe though an Active Hybrid powertrain cannot be ruled out as well.

The Geneva Motor Show is where its most likely for the production version of the Gran Coupe to be first previewed though the car isn’t likely to hit streets before early 2012.
