Ford Australia, in partnership with TopGear Australia Magazine, has unveiled not one, but TWO new Mad Max Interceptors. These madness cencepts have been designed by Ford’s designers for TopGear Magazine Australia to celebrate the revival of the Mad Max movie.
The magazine is in the process of collecting public opinion and votes on which of the two 40 per cent size clay models should make it to final, full model stage – although the car won’t be used in the film.
The Mad Max series is due for a fourth installment, that in case you didn’t know already. Tentatively due to hit theaters sometime in 2012, Mad Max: Fury Road is set to star Tom Hardy, Teresa Palmer and Charlize Theron. Of course, the real stars we’re most interested in will be the cars, which are currently being designed.
Chris Svensson, Ford Asia, Pacific and Australia Design Director, who was in charge of the project stated: “Our entire team was very excited to be involved in this after-hours project and they approached it with a great deal of enthusiasm – even those that were too young to remember the first Mad Max movie […] We had a special screening of the original movie so they could understand it.”
It seems the concepts are said to include weaponry such as industrial-strength “tasers” mounted in the front of the cars, and titanium-lined body shells to interrupt police scanners.
Until this moment over 10,000 people have already voted for their favourite, with the poll now extended to the end of July.
