2012 Honda Pilot Coming In September: Official Photo

by Ionut Dragomir

Honda has announced the releasing of the new Pilot generation this September.

Three years after the introduction of the second generation Pilot in 2008 comes the facelift. The most noticeable change is the brand-new and simpler looking three-slate front grille that replaces the oddly styled fascia of the outgoing model.

Unfortunately, when looking at the official photo and info released by the Japanese manufacturer we came to see that there was nothing out of the ordinary regarding the 2012 Honda Pilot. Still there are the changes we can’t see that comprise the significant upgrades to the three-row crossover for 2012.

The japanese car maker promises that the Pilot’s fuel economy will improve, and we expect that this will largely be attributable to a six-speed automatic transmission taking the place of last year’s five-cog unit. According to Car&Driver also the car’s interior has been freshened, with “upgraded” navigation and audio systems. Given that antiquated nav systems and hard-to-navigate radio units have been one of Honda’s most glaring faults in the past several years, we’re glad to hear that some kind of change has been made—although we’ll be eager to try the new setups out for ourselves.

So far, the manufacturer has not issued an official announcement, but it is reported that the 2012 Pilot will also benefit from a six-speed automatic transmission that replaces the 2011MY’s 5-speed unit.
