As one of the most popular models of brand, the Audi RS6 has always demanded respect for its styling and performances and the new model will not be outdone.
The latest spy pics show the upcoming model during hot-weather testing in the Nevada desert near Las Vegas and, despite being fully camouflaged, these shots are very useful showing many new details unknown so far. These details include quad exhaust pipes, a Tarmac-scraping front splitter and arch-filling alloys with carbon-cermamic brake discs.
While the 309bhp V6 diesel flagship engine provided tremendous pace, the A6 Avant is represented by the quality and class of its spacious interior and well packaged boot. Still, the RS6, available as a saloon and an estate, will have an ace up his sleeve, under the bonnet, more exactly. This new model will come with a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing around 550bhp. Even if that’s less than its predecessor, it should be sufficient for a 0-62mph time of well under 5s.
Even if lesser-powered ‘S’ versions of the A6, A7 and A8 are all rumoured to debut as early as next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the new RS6 isn’t expected to appear until next year.
The official price is still unknown, but it will probably go on sale starting somewhere around $17-180,000
