The Croatian manufacturer Rimac finally revealed their new electric supercar – Rimac One in full at 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
This supercar concept is the brainchild of 23-year-old Croatian designer Mate Rimac, who developed the electric Koenigsegg competitor from an egg crate and six cans of Krylon Red Pepper. (Actually it’s an aluminum frame and carbon-fiber body).
The electric supercar weighs in at 3,637 lbs and produces 1,088-hp. Thanks to four electric motors, controlled in separate front and rear sectors the Concept One can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (100 kmh) in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph. According to the manufacturer, on a full charge, the Concept One is capable of driving up to 373 mph. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? These figures might seem too good to be true, but based on the films we have seen of their factory and development center, these guys are for real.
“I believe that the electric motor is a much better machine compared to the ICE, in almost all aspects, especially for a sports car,” said Mate Rimac, the CEO of Rimac Automobili.
It seems that the Croatian company hired a team of former Pininfarina employees led by Mr. Goran Popovic just to design the interior of this car, and then had the well-known specialist Vilner to make it. “Special attention has been paid to the infotainment system and gadgets like head-up-displays and soft-close doors which had to match the propulsion technology in its advancement” says Rimac.
Adriano Mudri, the man who designed the carbon fiber body, says “exploring the labyrinth of creativity, it was obvious at an early stage that the design had to be simple and clear with a lot of sporty elegance to easily catch up with its competitors in this power & exclusivity class.”
