The North American division of the Italian luxury car manufacturer Ferrari has just announced its 2012 Winter Driving Experience, the Prancing Horse’s first American snow and ice driving school, being an adapted “Pilota on Ice” driving program for the US. It might sound absurd, but it’s true, Ferrari FF will put its wheels on snow and ice.
“Based on the ‘Pilota on Ice’ programs offered in Italy, the Winter Driving Experience is Ferrari’s newest and most dynamic driving program,” Ferrari said in a statement. “The two-day course, scheduled to launch in January 2012 and run until the early Spring, has been specifically developed with the FF in mind to highlight the versatility and functionality of the all-new 4 seat Ferrari model.”
According to the manufacturer, from January 2012, only Ferrari owners (who have US$11,399 to spend) and their guests will get the chance to experience a two-day driving course in Aspen, Colorado. There they will be waited by eight specially prepared examples of the new Ferrari FF in order to show the dynamic abilities of brand’s newest V12 GT on even the most treacherous conditions. The price for the guests is much smaller (only US$950), but they won’t be driving the FF and will instead be taken for a ride by a professional driver.
Refresher: The Ferrari FF takes its power from a 6.3L V12 engine making 651-hp at 8,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 504 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm with 368 lb-ft available from 1,000 rpm. The V12 is teamed with Ferrari’s 4RM four-wheel-drive system and a 7-speed transaxle dual-clutch F1 gearbox. Thanks to these and to the massive power, the Ferrari FF can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 208 mph. Fuel-economy wise, the Ferrari FF manages a combined 15 mpg.
