Being one of the top-selling vehicles from Ford, the Escape had to be released in an enhanced version for 2013.
The 2013 Escape comes in three variants. One powered by a 2.5-liter in-line four cylinder engine that produces 171 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. The other two are EcoBoost Engines. The first one is a 1.6-liter EcoBoost in-line four cylinder that delivers 173 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. This model will probably be the most fuel-efficient version of the 2013 Ford Escape, going 36 mpg. The third model is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost Engine with 238 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.
The EcoBoost engines of the Escape come with an intelligent four wheel drive system that automatically measures 25 different variables in order to calculate the best torque distribution. These cars also feature active grille shutters.
The standard transmission of the 2013 Ford Escape is a six-speed manual.
The design looks nothing like the one of the previous Ford Escape. The new look is more modern and high-tech.
The 2013 Ford Escape is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2012. The base cost price is $23,000. It also comes in a hybrid version (starting at $38,000), but the hybrid versions will probably run out very fast.

Ur 273 Hp rating for the ecobooste 2.0 is too high. Ford.com rates that engine @238Hp.
I’ve read on different sites that it’s 243hp but until release the actual official numbers it’s a guess game. I’m willing to be it won’t be 273 though 🙂
you might be right, but this is what my sources are saying.
thanks for pointing it out though, and when the official specifications are released, i will correct the article (if necessary)
I’m not too crazy about the odd bulging instrument panel. Looks too distracting. It should flow, blend in the whole dash rather than stick out like a sore thumb.
There will be no manual transmission on the new Escape and it will not come in a hybrid version – they both are discontinued with the 2012 Escape. Just check out Ford’s web site where they let you build your Escape (with estimated pricing at this point).
