2012 Maserati GranTurismo Sport – First Look

by Site Default

Maserati will launch the GranTurismo Sport, as a new variant of the GranTurismo S at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The engine is a 4.7-liter 430 horsepower V-8. The transmission is either a six speed automatic (as standard) or a six speed manual, available as an option. The manual option can get the steering wheel mounted gear shifters.

The exterior design doesn’t stand up in a crowd. It looks like your regular exotic car (no oxymoron intended). It is mainly based on functionality rather than looks, with the larger front air vent for better ventilation of the engine and brakes. The headlights come with LED technology as standard, and the rear lights are all new. The inside also gets new seats and steering wheel.

Maserati will most likely release more information regarding performance (although it is almost sure the GranTurismo Sport will sprint to 60 in under 5 seconds), fuel consumption, release date, and others at the Geneva event next month.

A base cost price hasn’t been officially announced yet either, but it is estimated to be around $160,000. The launch of the GranTurismo Sport won’t affect the production of the standard Granturismo, or the Maserati Stradale.

So, until the Geneva event from next month, we will have to settle with these (very limited) pieces of information.
