Although the Koreans from SsangYong almost went through bankruptcy not so long ago, this year they’re showing signs of betterment: they revealed the SsangYong XIV-2 Concept. This concept is aimed to compete against the Range Rover Evoque Cabrio (although it has little chances of doing so successfully).
SsangYong revealed the XIV concept in Frankfurt last year, and they’re doing a second version of it in Geneva this year, but this time, as a Cabrio Crossover.
The roof will also be textile, as in the Evoque, but a lot less aesthetic. It doesn’t fully retract, which spoils a little the rest of the car’s interesting, lifestyle-looking design. Most likely the XIV-2 will suffer major modifications in the roof in order to satisfy its future customers.
There are two engine choices for this car, both of them with a cylinder capacity of 1.6 liters: a Diesel that produces 130 horsepower and emits 112 grams of CO2 per km, and a gasoline one with only 125 horsepower and CO2 emissions of 127 per km.
We don’t know whether or not the Koreans will give more info on this Concept in this year’s Geneva event. If they do, we’ll let you know.
