In Australia, the BMW X1 range has been updated with three new engines and model variants, revised styling and upgraded technology headlining the changes to the premium small SUV.
The two new petrol models – the X1 sDrive20i and X1 xDrive28i.
Both powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, and a new diesel powered entry point, the X1 sDrive18d.
The new entry price is $600 more than the previous starting point of the BMW X1 sDrive18i.
The BMW X1 sDrive20i brings about 135kW of power and 270Nm of torque to the table, with the standard six-speed manual transmission delivering the figures of 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds, 6.9 litres per 100km and 162 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
The top range X1 xDrive28i sees a power rise to 180kW and 350Nm to the benefit of a 6.1-second 0-100km/h time, however, fuel and emission numbers are also affected at 7.8L/100km and 182g/km.
The BMW X1 sDrive18d’s 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine gives 105kW and 320Nm, resulting in a 0-100km/h in 9.6 seconds, 4.9 L/100km and 128g/km,
while the X1 xDrive20d produces 135kW and 380 Nm for a 0-100km/h sprint of 8.1 seconds and economy figures of 5.5L/100km and 145g/km.
BMW says each car’s fuel and CO2 results improve when fitted with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission.
The automatic gearbox is loaded with a list of standard BMW Efficient Dynamics technologies that now includes brake energy regeneration, stop/start, Eco Pro mode and an optimum shift point indicator on manual models, which results in the such an efficiency!
The BMW X1’s updated exterior includes refreshed front and rear bumpers with extended paint surfaces, side mirrors with integrated indicators and new headlights with optional Bi-Xenon technology.
The interior receives higher quality materials across the centre console, new centre panel trim surrounds and new chrome trim highlights.
Both sDrive variants come standard with cruise control, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, USB audio interface with Bluetooth connectivity and 17-inch alloy wheels.
For xDrive variants the list expands to include the Chrome Line exterior package, sports leather steering wheel and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Navigation professional and business systems, internet functionality, Harman/Kardon audio system and a rear view camera are also available options.
Available in four new exterior colours and with three new alloy wheel designs, the updated BMW X1 range, in Australian showrooms now, can also be optioned with the M Sport package or BMW Lines option – the latter being offered for the first time.
