With the fuel bills creating a deep hole into the pockets of the customers, The German Automakers Volkswagen Motors have introduced BlueMotion and BlueMotion Technology models across the Transporter panel van, kombi and people carrier ranges, which apparently offers low running costs and a improvised fuel economy with lower emissions.
The BlueMotion Model offers an ultimate efficiency range in the Transporter Model, which comes with an engine of 2.0-litre,114 PS TDI(turbo direct injection) turbocharged engine with a combined fuel economy of 44.8 mpg and CO2 emissions of 166 g/km, which has the capacity to run for 780 Miles on a single tank of fuel. This shows an improvement in combined fuel economy by 7.1mpg and reduction in the CO2 emissions by 32 g/km, in comparison to the 84 PS or 102 PS TDI (turbo direct injection) model.
BlueMotion technology can be availed in selected models, like the two, 2.0-litre TDI(turbo direct injection) engines offering power outputs of 84 PS and 114 PS, where the 84PS has a combined fuel economy of 40.4 mpg, an improvement of 2.7 mpg over the standard model, which helps to go further by 50 miles as an add-on per single tank and a range of 710 miles.
This level of efficiency from the BlueMotion Technology models are achieved by the use of low rolling resistance tyres, Start/Stop system and Battery regeneration systems, with cruise control. This BlueMotion model also has a tyre pressure warning light, which helps in avoiding the tyres to be under-inflated which actually increases the fuel consumption.
Taking a look at the Prices of the new Volkswagen Transporter, BlueMotion and BlueMotion Technology, models are available with prices starting from £18,770 (plus VAT) and £17,290 (plus VAT) respectively.
