Nissan Pathfinder SUV is now more fuel efficient and lighter too. It is longer and wider compared to its predecessor. It is also equipped with roomier interior.
It is learned the redesigned Nissan Pathfinder is coming up equipped with V-6 engine offered with 3.5 liters instead of 4 liters seen in V-8. Engineers have built it as unibody, ditching away the heavy truck frame used earlier. With 500 pounds lighter and fuel economy level hiked by 30 percent, it tops other mid-size crossover SUVs in sipping gasoline.
The towing capacity of this fourth-generation Pathfinder has also been dropped to 5,000 pounds from 7,000 pounds along with its starting retail prices, which is $29,495 for Pathfinder S equipped with 260-horsepower V-6 and two-wheel drive including destination charge. With all-wheel drive the lowest manufacturer’s suggested retail price, including destination charge, is $31,095.
This time the rating of the SUV is better than the previous model in terms of mileage standouts. It is now even ahead of Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot in the same category having three rows of seats.
The new model has been restyled too. It is now lower-to-the-ground with not so rugged and taller appearance as the previous version.
The test of it was responsive while accelerating, without any lag, even when loaded with seven passengers. The CVT was smooth and characteristic drone sound went unheard. The vehicle was too quiet inside, even wind noise was not heard at highway speeds. The interior gave a feel of a luxury car.
