BMW tops global luxury car segment

BMW got back its numero uno position in global luxury car sales in February, with Audi coming in second spot followed by Mercedes-Benz at third place.

The German automaker jumped to the top spot due to a strong demand for models like the 3-Series and X1 which made BMW’s sales in February jump by 7 percent, in excess of Audi’s 3.2 percent increase. In the first 2 months of the year, BMW sold 407 more cars compared to Audi.

Sales for Mercedes-Benz fell by 5.8 percent in February, managing to sell 37,229 less cars than BMW. The German firm says they will be introducing new models in the upcoming months which should further enhance sales. They will also increase A and B Class production by adding extra shifts at their plant in Germany. Production will also be added to their Hungarian plant from April, while more SUVs will be produced at the Alabama factory in U.S..

So this is the story so far and BMW has dethroned Audi and Mercedes-Benz to capture the top spot once again. We wish BMW a very healthy and prosperous period ahead.
