Daimler spokeswoman Silke Walters recently confirmed that the company was in talks for partnership with Aston Martin.
Walters declined to give further details about the same but said to Bloomberg that the talks are on and both sides are interested for the partnership but the final decision is yet to be made.
The companies have been thinking of having a partnership for years, but the latest discussions are a result of Investindustrial putting a 37.5 percent stake in Aston Martin earlier this month. Sources close to the company say that Daimler is the preferred partner of Investindustrial but Chairman Andrea Bonomi has also stated previously that they will also be talking to other manufacturers.
As informed earlier very little is known about the proposed partnership, but Bonomi hinted that it will involve jointly-developing engines and electrical components. If this appears to be correct, the partnership entered would be less extensive than the proposed engine and platform sharing agreement that collapsed two years ago and led to the shuttering of Maybach model.
