2014 Skoda Rapid gets a new engine

by SpeedLux

Skoda has recently announced an updated version of 2014 Rapid.

Set to go on sale on in August, the updated model can be equipped with optional xenon headlights which lash out 2,000 lumen. That may not sound too much, but the company says they are cheaper than higher output headlights while delivering almost the same intensity.

In the interiors, the cabin gets a modest makeover that includes brand new three-spoke steering wheel, updated upholstery, revised trim and improved infotainment systems. Active and Ambition variants also receive a higher quality dashboard in lava gray.

Power comes from a new 1.6-liter TDI engine that generates 90 HP (66 kW) and can be even equipped with an optional Green tec package that adds a start/stop system, brake energy regeneration and low-rolling resistance tires. With the aforementioned package, the engine consumes 3.9 L/100km (60.3 mpg US / 72.4 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.
